TRADITIONAL OR CHIP TRANSPONDER KEYS

Many of the vehicles today come with the highly advanced key styles compared to those used in the olden days. Top car manufacturers such as BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, and Ford are now all using some sort of chip or transponder keys.

What do transponder keys have that the traditional keys don’t have?

Transponder keys come with an RF transmitted placed directly in them, usually hidden in the key’s plastic head. A device in the vehicle ignition switch requires receiving the unique signal from the transmitter to start the car. When the vehicle fails to recognize the key, the fuel pump is going to stop the car from starting the vehicle engine. The system provides an added level of security which can make the car much harder to steal.

Among the primary reasons why manufacturers are now using chip or transponder keys these days is to prevent a vehicle from getting hotwired. The car will not really start with no device that will transmit the correct signal or with no key put into the ignition. Even if you use a key copy, with no proper transponder signal, the vehicle will never start at all.

If a person will take up the ignition then try to hotwire your car, your vehicle will never start since it does not receive the right signal from the transponder.

While you can always use traditional keys, chip or transponder keys will always be the best choice right now for added security of your much valued car. Call (202) 227-2772 NOW or schedule an appointment now!
